WELCOME TO CREATIVE KIDS

 

  We would like to take this opportunity to welcome your interest in Creative Kids Child Development Center.  Creative Kids is a child development center which opened in 1993 and is licensed by the PA Department of Public Welfare.  

 

  The staff at Creative Kids strives to promote a healthy, fun environment where we foster the social, creative, physical, emotional and intellectual growth of your child.  We offer a structured program flexible enough to be tailored to each child’s individual needs.  We are a center with an enthusiastic staff and an administration that cares.

 

   The Creative Kids staff is here to work with you, the parents, to make your child’s time with us an enriching and fun experience.  We appreciate your input and any concerns or comments are always welcome.

OUTDOOR PLAYTIME

   We, at Creative Kids believe that outdoor playtime is an important part of our curriculum.   

We include outdoor playtime, daily.  Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for the weather conditions.

 

FOOD

   Creative Kids will meet the nutritional needs of your child by providing well balanced meals and snacks using only the freshest ingredients and a minimum of sugar & preservatives.  We supply lunch and an AM and PM snack.

 

HOLIDAYS AND SPECIAL EVENTS

   Creative Kids celebrates holidays in a non-sectarian way as to include many cultures and customs.

  We would enjoy celebrating your child’s birthday with him or her.  If you wish, you may provide the class with a snack on your child’s special day.  Please remember, no peanuts, nuts or peanut products.

   Creative Kids is closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving
and Christmas.

    When Christmas Eve and/or New Year’s Eve fall on a weekday, Creative Kids will close at 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm, respectively.

    Parents are required to pay for the above mentioned holidays.  You may choose to use one of your vacation/sick days. Ten vacation/sick days per year are allowed for full-time students only (based on starting date of each child).

 

DISCIPLINE

·        Positive reinforcement for good behavior

·        Redirection and time out for inappropriate behavior.

·        Creative Kids reserves the right to dismiss any child from the center.

 

CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

   If your child currently has an IEP/IFSP, it would be beneficial to provide us with a copy of this plan so we can work together to ensure that your child’s needs are met. 

 

 

INCLEMENT WEATHER

  Creative Kids will make every possible attempt to remain open in inclement weather, but please check www.wfmz.com for closings and/or delays.

 

POLICY ON ILLNESS

   Any child having the following symptoms must be excused from child care and may not return until he or she has been free of symptoms for a 24 hour period.

·         Fever over 101˚

·         Vomiting (2 occurrences)

·         Diarrhea (3 occurrences)

·         Excessive runny nose or coughing

·         Discharge from the eyes

·         Head lice

·         Contagious disease (strep throat, pinworms, viral or ear infection, measles, mumps, chicken pox, etc.)

 

ANY OF THESE contagious diseases should be reported to the center immediately.

   If your child becomes ill while at the center, parents will be notified and you will be expected to pick up your child as soon as possible (within one hour). During this time we will make your child as comfortable as possible.  If the parent cannot be reached, the person listed on the emergency information form will be contacted.

 

MEDICATION

   We only dispense prescription medications.  Any medication must be in original container and include written instructions from the physician.  All medications should be handed to the teacher in charge, along with directions for refrigeration, etc.  The parent must sign the medication chart in the child’s room.

 

TRANSFER POLICY

  We will transfer a child’s records at the request of the parent when child transfers to another educational setting.

 

HEALTH ASSESSMENT

   State law requires every child be examined by his or her family physician and a health assessment form completed and returned to the center within thirty days of enrollment.

   Health assessment forms must be updated according to the guidelines set up by the American Academy of Pediatrics.  See website for additional information.

   Every child attending our center must have immunizations records up to date. Failure to comply with this policy will result in dismissal from the center.

PLEASE NOTE:  THIS POLICY IS FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL CHILDREN AND IS MANDATED BY THE STATE OF PA.

 

RELEASE OF CHILDREN

   Children will be released to parents, emergency persons and those designated on your child’s application form.  Any deviations from this must be through a note given in advance to the center.  If an emergency arises, where the parent is not able to pick up their child, a call to the center is permitted, however we will need to verify identity through a driver’s license. 

    If you have a PFA or custody order that we need to be aware of, a copy must be in your child’s file.

   We ask your cooperation in this because your child’s safety is very important to us.

 

SECURITY SYSTEM

    The doors at Creative Kids are locked and secure. Upon enrollment each family is given a code that is specific to your family.  This code is used to access the building through the keypad located on the main door. This code should not be shared with anyone (this includes your children).  Only PARENTS/GUARDIANS may enter the code for access to the building.

 

 

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

   Payment of a $30.00 registration fee is required to reserve a spot at Creative Kids for your child.  This is a non-refundable fee, should you decide not to attend.

PHOTOGRAPHY

  We occasionally photograph children at Creative Kids for use in art projects, bulletin boards, end-of-the year programs and on our website.   If you do not wish to have your child photographed, please inform Creative Kids, in writing.
